But getting a good look at the flighty creatures has always been a challenge. Binoculars make it easier to see and identify birds, and bird books, such as The Sibley Guide to Birds, published in 2000, make birdwatching more enjoyable. The latest addition to bird watching is the introduction of high-tech bird cameras can give you an “up-close and personal” view of your feathered friends in digital detail that you can enjoy and share. Best of all, these new bird cameras take pictures automatically—even when you are not there to see the birds that visit your bird feeder.
Audubon BirdCam takes high-resolution 5-megapixel digital photos that capture candid moments of the birds that visit your backyard in stunning, full-color detail. The motion-activated camera uses “Smart Sensor” technology that ignores feeder movement and minimizes empty shots, so you won’t have to sort through blank images.
Audubon BirdCam automatically uses laser aim to take close-up photos of every bird in range, whether you are watching your feeder or not. Audubon BirdCam is fully weatherproof and it’s easy to set up. No tools, wires or additional software is needed.

The top-of-the-line BirdCam 2.0 is packed with advanced features that expand bird photography options. BirdCam 2.0 takes 8-megapixel digital photos, for extra-sharp images. In addition to the motion-sensitive mode (referred to as AUTO mode), the BirdCam 2.0 can take digital photos or videos with sound at a specific time interval (TIMELAPSE mode) or be used as a regular digital camera (MANUAL mode). The built-in flash makes it possible for BirdCam 2.0 to make photos of birds in low light and nighttime conditions.
Viewing and sharing bird photos and videos from an Audubon BirdCam or BirdCam 2.0 is simple for anyone who has used a digital camera. Just download your bird photography or bird videos to your computer using the included USB cable or an optional memory card. You can also view your bird photography on a television by using the included TV Out cable. Once on a computer, your bird photos and videos are easy to save and share with others by printing, e-mailing, or posting to the web.
